Hi fellow pill takers

I posted a few questions but I'm not sure I did it right or maybe I'm too eager for a response.  Let me try this again.  Right now I'm taking about 8 10/325 Norco's.....been doing it for 6 months.  I was getting them for headaches.  After a few months of taking too many...I saw my doctor and told him what I was doing.  He threatened to drop me as a patient and said my only solution was inpatient somewhere.  I have a family to support, I work and I'm going to school.  Inpatient is just not an option.  I really need help tapering.  My problem right now is I have maybe a day and a half left of meds.  I need to find a compassionate doc who I can tell him what my problem is and have him help me taper off.  In 2 days....I'm going to sick and miserable.  I live in Orange County California if there is anyone out there who knows of a doc who might help me.  Maybe you can tell me how you found your doctor.  Anyway...thanks everyone.  Right now...you're all I have.

From the sounds of it with only a few pills left its impossible to taper . CT is rough but doable and its sounds like most likely you wont have a choice . see if you can stretch the pills thru Friday then you will have the weekend at least you can get the worst of it over before Monday . (or if you can take a few days off.We are a pretty supportive group you can make it threw this.

Call around to some pain managment places and explain your situation. If you could take a long weekend you could go cold turkey at home. Any way you do this , please do it now !  You havent been using very long and it will be so much easier now than later.  Trust me this addiction just gets much worse.  Please please find away to get off them now.  Call in sick for a few days if you have to.  Keep posting and reading.  Alot of helpful people here.   Mary

The thing is, alot of people haven't had the option of tapering, forcing cold turkey detoxification.. What to do then? That means you can either taper with what you've got, but that may not do you any good..
The good news is, talk to your doctor about detox and how to relieve some symptoms of withdrawal, if it's overbearing.. But, as with this type of medication, cold turkeying is not as bad as you think it is.. symptoms of withdrawal is what you're afraid of, but there's nothing to fear.. It's been in your system for 6 months, and you're taking 8 of the pills per day, than it shouldn't cause that much discomfort by stopping altogether, although you will experience the symptoms.. It won't last long, trust me! It's only a few days out of your life and while you're detoxing, your body is actually getting/adjusting back to normal, and that's one MAIN thing to be happy about! AND taking your life back!
I'm on day 13 clean from 3 years of being on Tramadol (3 pills per day as prescribed), and I've never felt better in my life!
Get to the underlying problem of the migraines, and keep the problem under control, instead of letting doctors 'temporarily fix' the issue by giving you meds.. because where there are addictive meds, there are life long problems that follow!
Talk to your doctor about weaning, or if you choose to 'cold turkey', than check out the Thomas Recipe on Avisg's journal or 'GoingToMakeIt's journal.. They'll also give you more info if you ask.. Good luck!
