wow...immodium...so far so good...I'm making it harder for myself, I know, because I'm just so nervous about w/d that it's consuming me! It's like I'm waiting around to see what happens next...but immodium is working so far! Trying to just go about my day and honestly...not so bad! ...yet
Thanks for all the help, support and advice!
Good job. Just don't turn back. Keep yourself as hydrated as possible, which isn't always easy. Popsicles, watermelon, and pineapple helped me with hydration and the nausea/vomiting.
also get yourself some Imodium Liquid worked best for me It helps alot make sure you get some.
Stay positive and know the wds wont last forever and you can build on getting your life back. STAY strong you can do this
okay - I figured I was doing better by waiting, only taking when my body was physically craving it - it was .5 oxycodone - I'm going to just stop them then - hope it was enough of a taper that I don't get too sick - kinda scared but I have the tools I need to get thru it I think. This forum, thomas recipe, amino acid protocol, and protein bars and shakes. So scared - I have to do it though. So, that's it! Took my last one earlier this afternoon. Wish me luck.
Vicki is right if you are waiting till ur sick This will not work at all. If Your going to quit then quit but if ur going to taper than do a taper than will work with your body to adjust and will be easier on you mentally and physically.
Dee You need a plan a good taper that you stick to .
Vicki has given you great taper advice on your other post read it and seriously sit down and plan it out. It can work but you have to have a plan.
Write it down and get a pill box and put the pills in it for each day. Dont wait till your sick and then pop a pill your Body will not do well at all. And its just a waste of time for you.
I hope that doesnt sound rude I am just trying to help you. Make a plan and stick to it! Good luck (read the post where Vicki put it out there for you)
Are you taking oxycodone 5mg or .5mg?
You say you're using them to taper but then you say you're waiting until you're really sick before you take the Oxy. That's not tapering and it's just going to make this worse. To me, it will be better for you to go without anything rather than confusing your brain and body with all the up and down
dosing. It's just not going to help you and it will prolong the wd's...
OxyContin are time released and oxycodone are immediate release. If you were to substitute the oxycodone, you would need a lot less. You may actually be able to taper more quickly as you could take less and since you're not used to oxycodone, you may be able to taper more quickly at a lower dose.
Some pain doctors actually rotate the narcotics they give their patients so as not to build up a tolerance. I'm not sure this actually really works, though some people seem to have success with it.
I just read that you were taking Vicodin 7.5 and oxy 5. You may do okay with 1/2 an oxy.
Dee just your last post-be careful with the 5s ive overdosed on them twice really woke up on life support, they will fool you if you let them,be careful... Danny
Dee hydros or loratab are hydrocodone, oxys are oxycodone and close to one and a half times stronger then loratabs, norcos all of them. The base drug is the same only different inerts and name.Hope that helps,if you want to really quit this is one of the places to be.. Good luck Danny
well, I am tapering from hydro 7.5 to oxy .5
was up to about 5 or 6 hydros a day - only take the oxys when I start to feel sick
in my research, on drugs.com pill identifier, the are instant release, not controlled...only a few left so we'll see what happens....
thanks for all the TERRIFIC input - I really appreciate it!
I am a recovering addict and Oxy was my demon, I started with Vics but soon had to go up, since your tapering I assume you have some sort of addiction to Ophiates in general.....I would seek help its the best way in the end, I cannot tell you how many times I told my self I was tapering.....but thats me and only my opinion, Best wishes ~Carmine
I'm sure the oxys work fine, but I totally agree with the above. A normie friend of mine took an oxy and felt it for 3 days. Time release means accumulation in your body, not taper.
Read the above posts - excellent info. You're playing with fire. Please be careful, or better yet, just stop the oxys.
i agree with what was said above. Vicodin was my drug of choice, but the few times I took oxy, it was way stronger then the vicodin & it took me days to recover. (This was before I became a full blown addict, taking pills every day). Please be careful.
Oxys are time release and stay in your system longer, are a higher rated class of drugs than hydros and can only be filled in person at the doctors office, cannot call in a refill. And what trytocope39 mentioned is the issue, your going to a stronger drug. Best not fool with these. If your looking for help on tapering call your doctor. Tapering works well for me on day 40 from 8 norcs a day to 3. Oxys are the drug that people OD from so be careful.
Oxys are stronger! And just as hard to detox off of if not harder.
How many oxys are you taking a day and how many Hydros were you taking?
Oxys are stronger than hydros. That is only increasing your dosage, not tapering down. What dose are you taking? Do you know?
They are different I think. BUt i would think it would mess with your dosages.. How can you be sure you are staying in line with your taper... But ya I never did oxy I was a vicodin guy but I know there is differences...
Hi Dee,
Not much help here but I thought hydros and oxys were very similar? Not sure...
just take it as it comes and treat the symptoms.
stay busy. moving is better. one step at a time.....
