hydrocodone withdrawal

I've been taking NORCO for about a month after knee replacement.  Stopped one day a couple weeks back because I felt horrible but felt more horrible without.  Dropped down to 1 per 24 hours for the last 3 days.  Of course i feel better after I take it and later have all those delightful withdrawal symptoms.  Any encouragement, advice, etc?
thanks

Good luck to you and please don't hesitate to ask us any other questions that you have.
If your doctor does tell you to just stop the pills than we can help you through the withdrawal.
I really don't think it will be too bad for you but everyone is different.
Let us know what the doctor says.

All of the comments have been very welcome and heart warming.  I liked the idea of a taper so I wouldn't be so uncomfortable but I had a sad feeling that it might just prolong.  Your response affirms that.  Thank you very much.  And of course notifying physican and following medical advice.  Thanks to all of you.

Hi ceh welcome and good job recognizing that you are in the early stages of dependency on the med. They are appropriately prescribed by your physician to manage post op pain short term. At this stage you could manage your pain with ibuprofen. I would stop the narco and switch over. Let your your doctor know what's going on. Your w/d should be mild and last less than a week.  Good luck and keep us posted ok?

So glad you found this site!!!  You will get so much advice and support here.  There are people going through different stages in recovery, but one thing that is certain is that everyone wants to help each other.  I did CT after I tapered a very little only because for me, it felt like somewhat of a mini WD each time, so I finally just went for it.  However, that being said few people have done the taper and been fine.  I guess it just depends on how your body reacts to what your trying to do. I praise you for realizing this sooner rather than later, very insightful.  I know you can get through this, it's hard but doable.  Good luck to you, let us know how you are doing!

Hi there and welcome to the forum
You will always receive positive support here.
I don't think what you are doing is working too well because you say you are taking the one pill every day and then having the withdrawal symptoms later on in the day.  Correct.
You really are just prolonging the symptoms by taking the 1 pill every day.
You will experience some withdrawal symptoms when you stop totally but we can give you some tips that will help you get through.
Please post and let us know what you decide.

Welcome! You are smart to see the signs early! I went over 10 years on Norco and Tramadol before I decided enough was enough! The with drawls are bad but after a few days you will feel better each day! You have not been on them long so it should not be too bad.....we are here for you and wish you the best of luck!
