taking to much xanax

i would like to know if 20  milligrams of xanax  would be an overdose? not for me my sister in law took it. plus other meds from here doctor and pot .how dose one still be alert and breathing?

Is she conscious? If she is awake and alert and oriented I wouldn't panic, just keep an eye on her. If she is unconscious then you need to call 911 or take her to the ER. You never know what a person's body can take when they are an addict because tolerance is part of the disease. However 20mg is an extremely high dose and if she doesn't need immediate help, she definately has a drug problem because a tolerance like that doesn't develop over night. Good luck! KWOW I'm sry.I read that WRONG and it registered n my head like opiates that r10mg each.I'M SORRY.NO THAT'S NOT SAFE AT ALL SHE CAN DEFINITELY OVERDOSE.I was prescribed4 2mg xanax a day which is 8mg a day and that was a ton.So ur talking what is a lethal combo w/other meds and alcohol.I'm sorry I gave u my opinion and the amount wasn't registering correctly.SO DANGEROUS

I hate to bring this up, but one of my very best friends killed herself by taking 10mg of xanax in combo w/80mg oxycontin (IV).
overopiates is right-  the concern is what she is taking WITH the xanax and what her tolerance level is. I was devestated when my friend died and would not wish that on my worst enemy! If you suspect that she has overdosed, PLEASE, take her to the er or call 911!

Call me crazy but I think 20mg of Xanax is a boat load in a 24 hour period!!  That might kill a person who doesn't have tolerance and even one that does!!  Does she drink alcohol as well?  A deadly combo!    The largest dose of a single Xanax is 2mg...and that's going to put most people out for a bit or get really relaxed...

20mg or xanax alone will not cause her to overdose.She will not overdose on pot.the concern lies n what else she is taking and how much  with the xanax.

Well her tolerance might be pretty high if she's been taking all of these drugs for a while now.

And PLEASE get her to the emergency room the second you suspect she's overdosing - don't question or even wonder for a second.  TAKE HER.
