Hi Joey,

No its not like that here in the states. If you have to go to the ER you will pay out the you know what if you have no insurance. I think about 40 million Americans have no insurance. I am one of them. You also would get absolutely no pay from work unless you have disability insurance. So many jobs here do not even offer health insurance. They were working on health care reform so that all Americans would have some sort of health insurance. Even if you have it thru work or privately it is high premiums & deductibles we have to pay before they start to pick up the tab. As i said they were working on it but i believe it was shot down because of the big pharmaceutical companies here in the US that are making a bloody fortune.

Now i don't know tons about health care just enough to know if you don't have insurance & you get sick you can literally lose your home & everything. I mean we have really good doctors & hospitals. And they can't turn you away from the ER but you will pay for it. I am sure there are others on this forum with a lot more info than i have about it.

Good Morning Jay,
Hope you are feeling a little better today. That was smart of you to get off of the oxys. Wish i had never been prescribed them. In the beginning they were great not so anymore. They have a way of really turning on you. Then when you try & just quit you feel as if you are going to die. You don't but you sure feel it. Anyways hang in there. You are already on day 3. Things should start to get better after today. Post when you feel up to it. Congrats on day 3!!

Take Care & God Bless

Hi hope everybody is ok I know a few are are rough but it's on the way to a new life. There's somthing realy important I just realised i live in uk and when I spoke about vit c and how it helped me I forgot you have a different healthcare system in the states. In the uk I can just walk into a clinic and pick up vit c needles if I wanted them and all the other. Things required for using and as much as I wanted within reason. Can you tell me what it's like for people in the states. For instance if I fell and broke my leg could I just go to hospital get it plastered then go home no money involved on my part whatsoever I would even get sick pay from work, not the full amount though a little over half I think.

Hi Jay,

Glad to hear you are doing ok. Sounds like the same problems i had coming off of the hydros. Headache, kinda achy just an all over sick feeling. I have been having a much harder time with the oxys. They are a b**** to come of of. I am having a really rough day today & on top of that i re-injured my back & can barely walk. This is the first time i have been able to even sit up. I just wanted to do a quick check-in & see how you were doing. Hang in there & in a couple of days you will be feeling much better.

Take care    Katie

Good Morning Joey & jay,

I agree with you Joey. Everyone is really nice & give loving support on here. In the world outside of this forum when someone asks how you are doing today they really don't want to know nor do they really care. Unless it is a good friend or family member & even then it makes you wonder. If you do start to tell them most of the time their eyes get this glazed look & they start looking at their watch. I guess cause we are all or have been thru the fight of our lives we all understand what we are going thru. I just love this forum. First time i have ever chatted online was this forum.

To Jay:

How are you feeling this morning Post me when you can & please keep me updated on your progress. I really do care. I will be gone for a while this morning. Have some errands to run but i will be back & check in with you when i get in.

God bless     Katie

To Joey & Jay:

I believe it was me that wrote the post. I agree 100% about how addictive they are.I only meant it as a short term use & then only if absolutely needed.

I too have experience with benzos & they are extremely dangerous if used for a long time when you try & quit them. They are actually harder & more dangerous to get off of than opiates. Found that out the hard way. I had to taper very very slow from them & even after tapering it was rough.

Sorry, my bad, I certainly did not mean any harm by my suggestion. But they can help if used for a short term & only if you can't take the lack of sleep.

Hi jay I saw a post to you that was giving you some very good advice but then they gave you some not to good advice. It is concerning Valium or atavan or any sleeper any benzodiazapam by all means use the but only very short term they are highly addictive I used them for four years while on heroin and I tapered off them to a tiny amount, I still had a realy rough couple of weeks. They make opiate withdrawel look like a walk in the park. All the best to everyone joey.

You are inspirational jay to tell people no who offer you more that takes courage and to tell the doctor not to give you any more. Keep it up man.

Jay look at my post on here about vit c if u can get enough it will take away most of your ct symptoms. But like the other post said if you can do a full ct it is best because it is so painfull mentally and physically you will remember it. I would advise anyone who has had a propblem to go t Na meetings at least to see what they are about because they can help with any underlying mental propblems you may have and if you have you will almost certainly find a way back to using. I struggled for twenty years with opiates until I looked at the mental side of it. Good luck you will be in my thoughts.

Glad to hear you are prepared. Did you get any of the Thomas Recipe vitamins? Also protein shakes are good. I really don't know what to tell you about whether you should just take them today & get it over with or save a couple. If you are ready & you sound as if you are then i would just get it over with. Keep posting & if you are too sick to type just reading the posts will help to pass the time. I get on here & next thing i know 2 hrs have gone by.

God Bless         Katie
