tapering off oxycontin

Hello
I have bin hooked on oxy for over 10 years.at my peek I was taking (7) 80mg pills per day. I am a hard working middle aged man.I have no choice, I have to get off this drug .I am now taking just 3 per day.I am hoping I can keep stretching the hours between doses .
my question is. Dose the body get used to a lower dose over say a weeks time.will I hit a wall .If I hit a wall is suboxen a good option.

                                                                                         Thanks for any help.

My personally experience brings me to say suggest to bring yourself down off them slowly and taper them, be strict and slow with the process to avoid withdrawal symptoms or atleast minimize them.  It will be hard, but with support you can do this.  If you need a friend InBox me, we can even chat on the phone it that is easier than all this typing.  I am here for you!

to answer the question on suboxen.. i have several friends that used suboxen to get off opiates and they have all said the withdrawals are ten times worse to get off of.  Also, they ended up using the suboxen as their new drug..I wish you the best of luck because i am almost 60 days clean from lortabs and percs and last year i detoxed from oxy and it was the most difficult detox however once i made it through the physical part i did not want to go there again...However i relapsed with lortabs and yes its a struggle no matter your choice of drug but it does get better. Also, im not sure how your body will react but i tried lowering doses and tapering off the oxy and my body ended just wanting more and i was unable to do so.  Good Luck.

You've essentially cut your dose in half and that's a lot. Think about staying where you are for a few weeks. One week is not enough time to adjust to the decrease.

It's great you're trying to break free! Just take it slow because you've been on a very large amount per day and you need the time to adjust every time you decrease your amount.

Good luck and keep posting.
