I see you have a couple of different posts going.....I posted on your last post but just wanted to follow up with what Gnarly and Baker have said.....One of the biggest frustrations for me when I first started to try and detox is that I thought that in 3 or 4 days I would feel better....You are going to feel crummy for the first week like they said but the second and third week is tough too....You will be over the bad stuff quickly but be prepared to fight this over the next two to three weeks....It gets better quickly but do not expect overnight instant results....We pill addicts are used to instant gratidification from swallowing a pill....This will take time and the more you put into your detox the more you will get out of it.....It will really help you if you post a lot here and ask questions if this is the first time you have gone through this....You are going to have lots of questions....Also, you need to take this very seriously....You should put as much priority into getting clean as you would battling cancer.....Your family, practice, and life need to understand that this is of the highest priority....You might need to take some time off to get through this....I personally was able to power through, I took a Friday off and spent the first 4 days in the bath tub and crawling around the house....I was able to get up and get to work on Monday though and have not missed a day of work....It was extremely difficult and do not try and push yourself to hard or too fast.  This will take time but you know you have to get through this.....There is no such thing as long term narcotic pain management and eventually we all have to get off of them....Well....keep posting and good luck, we are all rooting for you!

I'm on day 33 off norcos. My fatigue and rls went away at about the 3 week mark. The first week was pure hell and then everyday got a little better. It was a slow go though..now at day 33 I have more energy than when I was taking the little yellow pills. I go to sleep by 11 and wake up at 7:30 ready to go. I never thought it would be normal again but I promise it will. My back does hurt a little without the meds but I'll take that over them any day. I loved not feeling chained to the pill bottle if ya know what I mean. Hang in there it will get better. My physical wds were horrid but I feel a little lucky because I seem to have hardly any mental issues(depression, anxiety is gone, cravings are very minimal) so just be strong if the mental part creeps up on ya. Good luck.

Thank you for giving me a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have been taking this crap for ten years . . .8 -  10 Norco a day for a year . . .VIcodin, about the same amount, for ten years.  This is Day One of me deciding Not To Go Pick Up That Goddamned Prescription.  The pharmacy opened at 9:30 . . it is now 10:12. God give me strength . . .

My shoulder, on fire five minutes ago . . seems to be better . . it comes in waives and then the pain leaves again.  What the hell??? Is the pain more psychological in nature now than real?  What the ****? (Excuse my language, I am usually very professional and proper, but right now, I am really pissed by all of this . . ).  This is like "1984," -- Is it Real or Imagined . . .

My Very Real Question is . . .is the pain real or is it just yet another "withdrawel symptom" of this stuff?  Is my pinched nerve something I could have been living with all of these years and not been racing downstairs first thing in the morning or racing to my purse for my little yellow pills?  I notice when I get stressed in the slightest, the shoulder gets much worse . . .last night, I was in agony.

I also noticed I started sniffling, like I was getting a cold.  And I felt about 100 years old . ..I am 46 and I LOOK about 32 . .I just carried a 150 lb. woman from the Lada Gaga concert a week ago up three flights of stairs on my back . .that is how strong and fit I am.  But this shoulder . .man, it has knocked me on my *** for the past ten years.

I started taking Naproxen about six months ago when my daughter was prescribed it for chronic arthritis for her ankle (she is only 13).  It seems to help a bit . . .

The other symptoms, nauseau, vomiting, etc., I haven't experienced yet . . that said, this ole body has gotten through Valium and Cymbalta withdrawels in just the last few weeks so it might be saying, "oh screw it . . ." let the girl have some peace, already . . .

I'll be honest with you.  My single most biggest concern is not having energy to live my life anymore . . .two kids, a private practice, running a household, constant papers, five animals . . .and I am wondering how I am going to do all of this if I feel sooo damned tired all of the time.  So, please, tell me that the fatigue goes away after a bit.

Hope to hear from you soon.  Perhaps there is a rainbow after the storm.

Ciao,

Nikki
