has any one heard of salvia

I just watched and read about salvia which is compared to LSD! and here in Ca its legal you can get it at smoke shops its the big thing with kids! and that scares me I have a teenager was just curious if any one used it and if it is intense as I read and what to look for if someone is using?

Salvia is very potent at doing what it does - it's not just a novelty. Chemically, there's not much else, if anything, out there like it. A few of the opiates impact the same receptors that Salvia does - but not to the same level. Salvia has a very specific affinity for some very specific receptors that most drugs don't usually impact that much if at all (a few opiates impact the same receptors slightly and have slightly hallucinogenic effects  - but that is secondary to their affinity for other receptors).

Although it causes hallucinations and a very strange to complete disassociation from reality, its action on the brain is very chemically different than LSD and the results are equally very different. Depending on the amount taken, the effects range from slight feelings of special insight or thinking to full blown separation from reality and the body. It's not a good drug to take alone. Not because there is much risk of the drug causing problems directly - but because the altered perception of reality can result in people doing things that are harmful without being aware of what they are doing.

One can order off the internet or buy it in a lot of head-shops like it was nothing special... It is pretty crazy to think it's so easy to get when every other psychotropic drug out there is so heavily controlled!

hey ive tried salvia but i didnt personally like it scared the **** out of me! if its the legit stuff (usually sold 4x,8x,20x,40x its strength) and you rip it in a bong you will trip harder than acid but it will only last for 30 mins or so after effects longer. if someones using you will know its not the kind of drug u can just smoke and continue daily stuff, it disorientates you and makes you VERY confused paranoid ect. usually you cant even talk right when your on it!
