what am I in for?

Well, I am a 39 yr old who has been taking script pain killers for 8 long years now. I began with Lortab lowest dose (can't remember) and have moved up the scale to Percocet 15 mg, no accetominofen.12-20 pills a day. While I try not to buy them off the street, I have in the past when I ran out and started to get "ill". the strongest pills I have taken where oxycontin 20 mg. but only occasionally,and I cut them in half. On Jan. 19th I am going off the meds with my Drs. help, he will be starting me on Suboxine,after I withdraw from the percs. While I have experienced mild withdraw (1-2 days) I want to know what is going to happen to me,so I'm prepared. I have a 4 yr old and I need to know if I have to find care for him during all of this.If anyone could clue me in or give me some much needed advise ,I would really appreciate it.I'm a little scared and nervous about this. I have researched the suboxine, but I still want another addicts point of view. Thanks in advance, Rowwen

never cut oxys in half...they are timed release,youll get too much by doing that...

I just started Suboxen in Detox, it is really helpful with the withdrawls, I've been on it since Wed am and I've been clean 4 days it will help u.

Thanks for the advise, I really need it. Im planning on taking my last 2 percs on Sunday(the 18th) morning, then thats it. I am not taking anything else,no matter what. Like I said in an earlier post,I've lived this hell before and now again and I'm done. NO MORE!!! I have a beautiful family that I've all but alienated. I want my life back. I hope the suboxine works well for me,it should if I do it right. But either way there is no turning back for me. I'm nervous as hell about all this but i'm determined to do it. Rowan, DO NOT take anything at all during that 24 window. 9 out of 10 people will go into immediate w.d if you are not in full w.d when you start the sub. THe longer you wait to start the sub from your last dose of your previous DOC, will determine how good you feel when you start the sub. If you take your last perc early in the AM, lets say at 9am on the 18th then go to your dr on the 19th at 3:30, that should be about 31hrs. So when you start the sub, which you can as soon as you get it, you should feel 100% normal again. As long as its the right amout of sub for you, you should feel fine. Thanks for the input and support all.I have cut back to only 12 a day no matter how bad I want more, so im hoping that will help some. instead of trying to cold turkey it again. I will do this ,I just don't want to be any sicker than needed. lol. Like I said ,I have a 4 yr old who depends on me being there for him.

While on Suboxone...if you were to take any kind of prescribed pain pills...you would feel sick, or your body would reject it.  So...yes as Kerstin was saying, that MAY not be the right thing to do when first starting subs(going in "high")...Im just letting you know what my doctor told me to do for MY first visit.  Just do what your doctor tells you to do and you'll be fine....

i would really not suggest going in "high" its like russian roulette(sp?) it is chancy depending on the person i was one of the people that was unfortunate in that case b/c i thought i was smarter than my doc and went in there after blowing an oxy 20 and after my first sub dose ended up in immediate withdrawal and had to start all over the next day. it s*cked so i would recommend just taking your last dose of percs about 12-15 hours before your sub appointment so that way you are comfortable for most of the time or sleeping. suboxone gave me my life back. i was terrified too, but its not bad at all just has a gross "orange cleaner" taste. you can message me if you have any questions. i would be happy to help you. good luck! and like i said just do it the right way and dont chance screwing up your start on suboxone.

Alot of doctors will say a patient needs to be going through withdrawals from their pain medication before starting Suboxone.  However, my doctor told me that I could come in "high"(which I did), and he started me on Sub immediately.  I can tell you that I was scared to death (just like you) to stop the pain meds and go to another drug.  I was VERY surprised that I didn't feel any side effects.  I felt just "normal", sorta how I felt while taking Hydrocodone.  I do have to say the taste is NASTY.  You will let the pill dissolve under your tongue and IT IS NASTY. But...Suboxone does help, you will feel "normal"...so don't be scared.  Everything will be okay :)

I am going to run out of my percs on the 18th if im lucky,or not stupid(lol),Im scheduled to see my Dr. on the 19th and start the suboxine.But my appt. is late in the afternoon,3:30 to b exact. So I wanted to know how bad im going to feel in that 24 hr. window. To answer your question, I don't know how long I will be on the suboxine,I suffer from Fibromyalgia and cronic pain in my back, neck and limbs. My Dr. said it would help with my pain ,but I won't b as bad off as on the percs.Which Ive been on for 8 yrs. and began snorting about 5 months ago. So ,I don't know ,but I do know I want out of this black hole im in. Im not kidding ,I want to be better .Im going to do this.I recovered from cocaine abuse 12 yrs ago.I never wanted to be here again.

Well, you will be in w.d for like maybe a day. What I did when I started my sub, was took my last dose of Oxy Contin early, like 7am, then started my sub the following morning. Most drs will tell you to start the sub 24-36hrs after your last dose of your drug of choice. So I would take my last pills early in the am, so then I could function all day, then sleep throughout the night and most of the w.d, then as soon as I was up, I could start my sub..and it worked for me that way. I barely had any w.d at that point. How long do you plan on being on the sub?

I misunderstood what my Dr. told me. I was under the impression I would have to wd before starting the suboxine. Thanks for the input anyway LOL.

r u speaking of sub wd? if ou stay on the sub for any length of time and plan to get off of it then there is usually wds???

if u r going on suboxone, why do u have to go thru wds?  most start the sub the next day
