what is clonopin?

I've been reading, here making a plan, gotta have a plan! I will google clonopin {sp} I see many references here to something that is spelled like that. Is there more drugs that are spelled like that? I thought clonopin was just a blood pressure drug and it has sounded like something I might need when detoxing from oxy? Had no clue till just now that it was also addictive and dangerous to quit ct. Any input is appreciated, thanks

By the way I have done a lot of meth in my past. I was in Germany and had acess to the pure crystal from the pharmacy until I got heppatitus from a dirty needle and was laid up in hospital for 3 months, and did it some more , when I was runnin with the biker crowd in 86-88 . never had wd.

Swagger , did I hear you right? " you would do it again if you could get a good supply" are you not struggling enough now with beer and klonipin? Just because we were able to get off of a drug at one time with little or no wds doesn't by any means that it would be the same easy road next time. This kind of thinking is just what the addict brain loves, this can and will kill you. Please count your blessing and don't tempt the truely addictive opiates. I don't have an addiction to opiates I instead have a full blown classic crystal meth addiction. In remission for 11 months thanks to much hard work. My point is that I doubt anyone on this forum would want my addiction nor would I want theirs. We are all addicts and that happens in the brain not in one drug over anouther. Btw did you check out meetings yet? Just a gental reminder you said you would last night

Klonopin-clonazapin is much stronger than zanax its just zanax gets in your bloodstream a lot quicker and has a much shorter             half life, that is why people take it multiple times a day and is also why it is made in such a way that you can break it off into several doses. You didnt wd from this hoorah for you as well as the other poster that claims no wd from klonopin. Maybe I should just flush mine down the toilet and hoorah to all 3 of us. ps my wd from vicodin and oxy and diladin was a piece of cake, I would do it again if I could get my hands on a good supply.

Your Quote : " Klonopin is a benzodiazapein much like valium or zanax etc and clonazapam is klonopin in its generic form and no way it is for blood pressure. It is an antianziety/seizure med aka tranquillizer ( old school term) My post is most likely were your seeing this and yes withraw from it is hell. :" End Quote"

If this is what I think it is,,is it not very similar to xanax except not as strong? Like the difference inbetween a Hydrocodone and a Oxycodone when thinking of a strength comparison? Like a baby xanax? Came in 5mg ? I believe I was prescribed that at one time for a short spell but it didn't help much unless I took like 4 of them.

In finding this site , I keep seeing people (such as yourself) talk alot about the wd's from that stuff or xanax for that matter. And this is the paradox. I was on a regiment of 1mg xanax 3x/day for 6 months if not a year back in the late 80's and then again in the mid 90's..Thing about it is,, when I stopped pretty much CT both times,,, I did not experience any noticable wd's. I am not telling a story on this. I have thought back and thought back and can't remember any symtoms of consequence I experienced. And I wasn't taking anything else that might have masked wd's. At the time I may have drank a few beers or wine in the evenings but that was about it.. weird. By all rights I should have had some very noticable wd's from what I've learned here..This is my experience though. I am not condoning or indicating by any means that its ok or safe to screw around and take these things for those that are looking for an excuse to do so. That is not the purpose of me sharing this experience. Its to show that what affects one individual may not affect another. Like the person that can powder his nose for months on end and still be here. Compared to the other guy that powders his nose and drops dead of a heartattack first time he gets near the stuff..

Getting back to the point of my post though, to this day I just don't understand the "why" of it all. Sometimes I wonder if it partly had to do with not even considering or having the thought cross my mind that I would experience wd's...It never crossed my mind back then..Maybe I did experience something. Feeling like I was coming down with something and then after a few days it passed. I just don't remember.. Just weird..Wish I could say the same about oxy's. I would definitely be on to something if that were to happen..No such luck there though..They are "very" real and "very" noticable :(

Frank , dont know your age but I just turned 50 and I can relate to the  getting mixed up thing. I had no knowledge of the clonodine but then again I am by far an authority on opiate addiction, But for what its worth you are unknowingly helping me with my social skills and willingness to help others as someday I am going to be off my addictions and I feel I myself will be doing the Q&A to others. I know I had the answer to your question about klonopin ( clon as you reffered to it ) but was unaware of clonodine. my bad. But hey Im new at this and if helping others helps myself its a win-win. Hope you find the right solution soon. Swag

Klonopin is a benzodiazapein much like valium or zanax etc and clonazapam is klonopin in its generic form and no way it is for blood pressure. It is an antianziety/seizure med aka tranquillizer ( old school term) My post is most likely were your seeing this and yes withraw from it is hell. I do know docs and treatment centers may use it short term to smooth out alcohal and cocaine withdraw but very short term and usually it is valium ( diazapam ) or librium. I did have one reply that claimed this person ctd at same dose as me and felt nothing but I suspect some other substance was covering this. And how long was this person on the clon I dont no but it could not have been that long. I suggest contacting some of the forums top addiction answers lidt on the lower right side of this page for advice on oxy detox as I only used oxy for a few months post surgery and when I wd I felt sick to my stomach for a week or so. I did make a comment that I thought the klonopon may have helped, i cant be sure. Please dont get hooked on klonopon-klonopin? It is the worst of all benzos I think and has a long term effects, and is in my opinion Very Addictive. I been on them since 2004 and am still trying to get my life back to normal.   swagger39

there is a drug called klonopin which is a benzodiazepine used for anxiety disoorders or seizure disorders. I think you are referring to clonodine which is used for high blood pressure or opiate withdraws. Good luck Jeff
