what is lethel dose of methadone?

My son recently passed away at the age of 20 while in detox center- when i received medical records from
hospital the levels of methadone where incredible.  I beleive that the doctor misread the original lab tox
test and started my son out with triple the amount because he misread the number of methodone.  Does
anyone know what levels are and start at?

so sorry for you loss.... all i can tell is that most methadone maintance clinics start an opiate addict out at 30mg that is standard but I hear if your not an addict before this even 30 can be lethal.... again sorry for your loss.... I would take the advice of avisg if I were you

I am so very sorry for your loss .There is no one here with the experience to answer that question for you and it would be of disservice to you if any of us tried to .I would find a doctor with a lot of knowledge with methadone to look over your sons records. If we can be of any help plz let us know we are here to listen....

I am so sincerely sorry about your loss...I was on methadone for a little over a year.I have a bit over 7 months clean.I'm not sure if there is a conclusive answer to your question.With methadone ,as well as other drugs,one persons dose could cause another persons death.Perhaps some more information would help.Why was your son in detox,what was he addicted to? Was he on methadone prior to going and if he was how long was he on it? What do you mean by the doctor misread the labs and started him out on triple the amount?How high was his dose? Was he on any other med prior to and during his stay in detox?
