My doctor is talking about using Suboxone for pain management???

Well, went to doctor last night.  I will be having xrays and MRI.  Got some percs but they have just made me nauseated (luckily).  My doctor knows of my addiction history and that I have been on lortab for some time now.  He suggested using suboxone for pain control until surgery, then wean off that.  But, I can't even think about having the surgery until next year when I can take paid time off of work.  I don't want to be on sub that long.  From what I've read, less than 1 month is best.  So, I will try to stay to my PRESCRIBED amount of perc/vic.  then once surg is over, use sub to get off the opiates?  Fu@kI hate this disease!!! any other suggestions?

a low dose of Sub seems to have helped me manage my pain.

when most i know had surgery (for herniated disks) i've managed to avoid it and have been virtually pain-free since the Sub.

i don't know all the long term effects of Sub, but all i can tell you is for me, personally, it has worked for pain management.

and given the option, i'd prefer to be on this.  i'm no longer "chasing a high."

again - just my story...

i agree with addict but did not want to say it...a job nor time off work is worth all of this...staying on drugs for another year...call in for a week...flu hit u like a truck....use a satrday and sunday and a few extra days...i went back to work on day 5 and i made it...not gonna say it was easy but doable...u r leaving urself no choices but dangerous choices

Can you possibly get time off long enough to have the surgery, use the sud to help taper and an addiction specialist to help you slowly taper the narcs.?
That seems doable to me, will take a lot of self control, but by using an approach something like this by the time you say you can take off of work you can be clean.
I know that is easy for me to say, but, you did ask.

That is tough...a year is a long time...neither answer sounds good to me...sub not narcs for another year if u r addicted to them...i would have to give myself another option...but that is me...dont know but good luck
