I read your post on cough syrup.

If you keep messing with Oxycontin, you will get addicted.. its likely that there is more to your story..  I can tell you that after 5 years.. 30mg or 40mg of Oxycontin would have less effects on me than an Advil.

Most people how take Opiates would not stay at 40mg.. they would not get high from it and want/need more.
When I quit Oxy.. I the most I could handle was 100mg - 120mg in a dose..  That amount would have killed me only 3 months before..

90% of people who take Prescription Pain killers want to get off them as soon as possible.  The other 10% love the experience..  For whatever reason, being sober isn't pleasant for that smaller group..  If your looking for something to get you high.. This is about as serious as it gets.. Like Heroin in a tablet form.. if your lucky, it will ruin your life.. if your not lucky.. it will kill you.

I'm glad you don't want the codeine cough syrup. Codeine is very weak compared to oxycodone and since it hasn't been that long since you were taking it the codeine probably wouldn't do a darn thing to you.
By the way, congrats on your clean time! Be proud of yourself for what you have accomplished! Keep up the good fight buddy!

You may have very well dodged a bullet. Someone up stairs must be looking out for you. But since you didn't have withdrawals this time, don't think it will be like this every time. I've been through withdrawals a handful of times and a once they weren't that bad. The other times I was in complete misery. So count your lucky stars and don't take the chance again. Have you ever been through withdrawals? If not, it's something you do not want to experience. If you have, I'm surprised you are even considering messing with the codeine cough syrup. And to be honest it's not so much about the withdrawals. It's the life we end up living constantly worrying about where we are going to get the pills for our next high, not caring about our daily obligations that are important, losing friends due to being strung out all the time, maybe losing your job due to not being able to work because of withdrawals from not having the pills, getting arrested for doctor shopping or from buying pills off the street because we don't want to be sick if we run out, and maybe even possibly losing your life. No one ever thinks all of this will happen to them. I never in my life thought I would become a addict. My use started from a back injury. I took as prescribed for a few years. After using for awhile we build a tolerance to the meds and then we keep taking more and more trying to chase I high we no longer can get. We continue taking them just to keep from being sick. Luckily I never lost a job, friends or family, got arrested (although I could have from getting scripts from two different doctors, and I didn't lose my life. My older sister wasn't so lucky. She was almost 31 at the time we lost her. She was just an occasional user and didn't take them for pain but to party. It only took one time to where she took one too many and that was it. All of her organs shut down. My parents had to give the doctors permission to pull the plug. They talked to numerous doctors and specialists and she didn't have any chance of coming back. The machines were keeping her alive. It has been about 4 years or so and my parents are still not the same. I hate seeing them like this. It breaks my heart to know what they are going through especially since I have kiddos of my own now. I couldn't imagine burying my child.
So please, think before you decide to mess around with any of this stuff. Like I said, no one thinks they will ever have a problem. It can happen to anyone at any given time. Addiction does not discriminate. Stick around and read as many posts as you can. I have even seen quite a few to where people were on the brink of suicide because they were so sick of the life they were living. They wanted so bad to get off of everything but just couldn't seem to do it. They figured death would be easier. I just don't want to see you (even though I don't know you) go down this road. It's just not worth it.
So please quit while you are ahead. Trust me on this.
Best of luck to you.
Brian

You were just asking on a different post if you could get high from your cough syrup.  Are you trying to get high or get help?
