im on 340mls of methadose have been for 10 yrs well more as im coming down how long will this take????

hi welcome to the forum...wow 340 a...well I thought I was at a high dose at 150mg I dont know if one of us is doing the math wrong or
if your realy at 340mg or 34 mg eather way you can still get off by tapering ...I just finished tapering off 50 days ago ...it took me 8 1/2 mo
and was difficult to say the least...but still very doable ...I used a formula given to me by a neo/natal nurse that brings babys off heroin ,methadone,ext ...it goes like this....10% drop in dose every 72hr
it worked well for the most part but there was some bumps in the road
you sometimes have to stay at a certain dose a bit longer like a week or so to let your body adjust...if your experencing withdrawals
just stay at that dose for a wile..when your body adjusts you move down...like I said it took 8 1/2 mo so its slow going but this is a race that the tortus wins not the hare..also there will be some discomfort wile doing this....it is unavoidable but if done right your withdrawals can be managed with as little discomfort as possible...you just got to be "ok without being ok for a wile" it will come at different times and doses I remember 60 40 and 20 as being difficult but in between
not so bad its different for everyone some doses you will struggle
with others will be a breeze just put togeather a plan and stick to it
the best you can...let your body be the judge of when your going to fast and stop when the withdrawals get to uncomfortable...keep coming to the forum, this forum and all the sportive people on it
will be extremely helpful...I know it was for me so keep posting
and reading the posts ...there are lots of people here that have and are trying to kick methadone so you will be in good company...got to run for now but I will watch for your posts..good luck and god bless...Gnarly

Have used methaodne for pain at 20-30 mgs but never have gotten addicted to it..ur dose is high..have u asked ur dr bout tapering from it

As a rule peeps go slow tapering off of methadone or sub due to the long halflife these drugs have..there is a great article in the Health Pages regarding a methadone taper..methadone is just a narcotic used for pain like oxy and hydro but the long halflife makes it a bit longer to wd from...just takes a bit longer..can u ask ur dr to help u taper and give u safe meds to make it thru...do read thru the health pages///great info

At a dose over 300 mgs for  10 yrs CT may be a bit severe..tapering down 5 mgs a week or so may help..or even 5 mgs every few days u untl u get down to 50 mgs or so,,,as a person whittles away at that last few mgs, it gets tougher,,only thing u can do is GO FOR IT, educate urself on what to expect, communicate with ur dr, attend some sorta aftercare to keep u focused and strong..and keep posting
