xanax & methadone withdrawel

I have a friend who is trying to get off methadone for pain mangement. He has taken medadone off and on for the last ten years.  He is also taking 5-7 mg. of xanax a day.  He keeps telling me that he wants to get off the methadone and the xanax, but keeps.  I am fearful that he will never get off the xanax.  He went cold turkey in May and had every bad withdrawel problem's.  I know he should probably be in an in-patient clinic setting.  I have heard it takes any where from 3 months to years to finally get offo xanax.  I read an article that if you take topamax and kolnipin it should help with withdrawels????

I have recently stopped taking methAdone. It was causing very bad memory loss, and I got caught shoplifting 5 times in the last year. I also went through hell with the terrible withdrawls! Don't do it! Stop if you Are on it, slowly. I have been clean for sixteen days and still going through withdrawls. 10times worse than heroin withdrawls. I thought I was gonna die. If I can do so can you. Be strong my prayers are with you.

He needs to see a doctor he is taking a large amount of xanax  he is going to need to do a very slow taper  if he CT's off he is risking sezuires that can be fatal. Also methadone is very hard to wd off of as well. I would suggest he does the methadone first then try to tackle the xanax but a doctor can give him the best advice on this .

Well your friend my need more help than you know xanex and meth wow what a scary deal.  Somepeople can nerver get of xanex because it messes with your mind so much.  I would tell him to see a doctor if you wants to get off.  Im sure there are safe treatment methods.  Im not a xanex user but my mom is and she is off her rocker when she is not taking it.  Good luck with your friend and find out through a doctor what to do.
