one question as you know i have been tking xanax 0.5mil one time at night for six months, do not abuse have been trying to get off went fron one a night ,skipped a night took half of 0.5 39 hrs later and have not taken anymore since this is all in the course of 4 days how long before the seizure risk is gone

yes i am having a terrible time sleeping but last night i got about 4 hrs sleep i just dont want to go back to taking that stuff it is horrible i never realized how fast it can take over,i was prescribed to take 0.5 mil 3xs a day but it left me so tired and weighed down and then after it wore off i was more agitated than before so i started to take it just to put me to sleep which it did for a while but then it quit working and i was having terrible nightmares and freaky thoughts and everything so i said well thats enough for me but theni found out that my body wanted it and i have had a hell of a time fo a week now but IM NOT GOIN BACK THAT ****WILL KILL YOU and i aint ready to go if ya know what i mean thanx for answering and thanx to all the great people on here you have all been wonderful

seizure risk at a low dose like that is minimal...that is a risk for heavy users like 2-3 mg and more per day...u should be safe...are u having toruble sleeping?

Im not a doctor, but sounds like your dose was low enough that the change wouldnt cause any serious side effects such as a siezure. Ive been told that its a good idea to keep an eye on your blood pressure when you quit any benzo, xanax,valium,klonipin etc. About 7months ago I quit using xanax, I had a hard time sleeping so I started to take 5mg of melatonin at bedtime. Our sleep is very important in so many ways for our bodies to re-energize. In the end if you want to be safe the best advice is to consult your prescribing doctor who knows you and your history.
