Drinking 2 years every day and stopping...

I have been drinking 3 to 6 beers a night for about 2 years. Yesterday I decided to quit and had nothing to drink. Do you get withdrawal symptoms from stopping cold turkey? Today I felt like I didn't want to get out of bed and I just couldn't wake up. I pretty much feel like I have a cold and no energy. Is this normal? Thanks!

hi there. you will likely have some withdrawal symptoms (nervousness, insomnia, shakes, nausea, anxiety) but if your consumption has been limited to < or = 6 pack/night, you likely will not have to worry about more serious complications if you are otherwise healthy and have not been using benzodiazepines or other sedatives as well. so, ya you will feel bad for a few days. irregardless of intake, this is best done under the care of a competent physician. take care,  gm
