i mowed down chocolate and ice cream my first 9 month of sobriety.Alcohol leaves behind lots of refined sugar residues in the body,,,,after 27 years now sober i've learned to moderate th eintake....still dig the sweets but in smaller amounts!
I been sober for 2 months almost on 3 and since i been sober i been craving sweets i was never a sweets fan but now grrrr, its really not easy staying sober but im glad i am.....im not really use to being sober been drinking since i was 16 been some years of everyday drinking well good luck to you guys
u lucky girl!sometimes i come across ones like u!
Well i see i am still the lone duck standing here......i didnt crave the sweet thing!!
I was unable to eat for the first few days as food would not stay down.
As a Cider/Beer drinker witch is high in carbohydrates my craving for sugary food was nearly as bad as my cravings for drink at times when I first stopped drinking. Like the cravings for drink this went away in time....

Hi. The first week or so I had to force myself to eat-i knew it was necessary to offset and shorten the withdrawal. The use of sweets such as candy seemed to help as the body usually craves sugar once the alcohol is removed. Its also a good idea to take multivitamins as well as we have usually been malbourished while drinking. Best wishes GM-
I was just the opposite(go figure!!). I lost a ton of weight after i sobered up. Seems we go from one extreme to the other after we sober up!! I would take the weight gain or loss anyday over the drinking......sara
What a great topic!oh yes.....in my first 9 months of sobriety i gained 39 lbs!ice cream chocolate....oh yesssssssssssssss....the sweet stuff and at nite eating!I did eventually moderate this!it is a unfortunately common thing in recovering folks and a definite battle of the bulge to learn to control!
I couldnt keep anything down........sara
Hi, with me it was popsicles, ice cream, ice cubes - anything cold!
