No sense of touch?

Is it true that when drunk , we don't feel any pain?
I mean , will we feel the hit and not feel any pain or will we not even feel any thing?
For eg : is it possible that somebody touches us behind us and we don't feel a thing?
is it possible that somebody sticks a needle behind us and we don't feel a thing?

The scenario is me drunk ( 2 beers and a shot tequila ) , severe head pain from drinking , can't walk normal, but can manage to walk straight.
Will i be able to feel any foreign object , pain , somebody else touching behind me me?

Is it true when people say once drunk can't feel a thing.?
Can you please explain what exactly the truth behind it ?

Oh how i remember those days!!  I also remember how a couple doses of penicillan would kill whatever ailed you but now the STD's are life long with some very devastating consequences.  It's hard to tell people the dangers of drugs and alcohol let alone sex with multiple partners as it isnt going to happen to them.

we know i am a different kind of girl....years ago in a dorm room i was watching my friends take a trip w/peyote buttons....picking strychnine out of mushrooms scared me thank God....the tequila and pot was plentiful.A friend of mine said what would u rather have?good drugs or good sex?i said thats easy good drugs for one can have sex anytime but good drugs one should hop on!that was my thinking back then.....in 1974....fool and young addict that i was....but today i feel so differently and today there are so many diseases out there that folks get........and the hep is becoming beyond common! We humans can painfully learn...or should...that  a few moments of supposed pleasure is not worth the long consequences of that action!

I agree with the other members... You are worrying so so much right now (and for just reasons... not saying that you did contract HIV but the fear of getting it is pretty intense) the only thing that actually can reassure you is a test. I understand how hard this can be: the first time I took the test, I did not sleep for one week. i used to shoot heroin so i pretty much was a perfect candidate... i was extremely lucky... extremely. test came back negative... but the week i spent prior the test and i believe back then there was a 3-week wait time after, these four weeks were very very intense weeks in my life. but you've got to do it otherwise, you are going to simply drive yourself crazy. Courage, do it! you'll be so glad you did.

best,

nikita

I think its best you go get tested. Then no longer hang around people that would do such a thing to you! What are you thinking! GO!!

You were given answers on the HIV forum about this.

If you dont get drunk you wont have to worry about someone sticking you with a needle.

Thank you nikita , this really helped.

But i remembered every single incident tat day , even though drunk. Why i'm worrying is that i've had a very close encounter with HIV.

My last question :

I can wake up if somebody pinches me while asleep , so obviously i would wake up if somebody sticks a needle into me.

But napping drunk , does this make a difference?

What if i lie down drunk after puking twice and mild headache ? Mild sleep , i would be wake up that time also right , if something happened ( needle stick ) ?
I would appreciate it if you would respond.

Thanks in advance :)

PS. Forgot to mention that each and all of us have a different tolerance towards alcohol. You mention two beers and a tequila, I assume you are asking if this would be enough for one's inhibitions and sensations to be affected. To some, absolutely. There are individuals who drink one beer and are completely drunk. Others will drink two six-pack and a bottle of tequila before feeling inhibited... Each and all of us have a different tolerance level towards alcohol.

Alcohol is a a central nervous system depressant that causes sedation and drowsiness.

"Is it true that when drunk, we don't feel any pain?": Depends on how intense the pain is. But, my first answer is False
Once drunk, you still can feel pain. It only dulls one’s sensation of pain.

Alcohol’s effect on the outer layer of the frontal cortex region of the brain interferes with the conscious thought process contributing to loss of inhibitions. The prefrontal cortex is also the part of the brain that relates to pleasure. Therefore, alcohol will not stop you from feeling pain but will definitely dull sensation and because it activates the reward path, your ability to identify pain will be blurred by this sensation of temporary euphoria. and last but not least, alcohol effects memory and how many times people woke up the next day unable to remember what happened just a few hours ago... so even if you felt it at the time, memory of feeling poked or something like that might have been erased from your memory.

By the way, the dulling of pain is why alcohol was used in the past as an anesthetic. But still not good if you've got someone poking you in the derriere or something :)

hope this helps,

nikita
