Try melatonin instead to help you sleep. It really works and is natural, otc. I had massive insomnia for weeks after quitting cocaine and drinking and it really helped me.

Congrats on your decision to stop drinking! My doctor also told me that ativan is the worst thing you can take if you are an alcoholic. She said that it's very addicting so she wont prescribe it to me.
You've made a great decision,I don't know anything about Ativan either but listen to Ibizan,just make sure you get off them as soon as possible.

I don't know anything about Ativan, but Ibizan knows what she's talking about. When the early withdrawal days are over, you should talk to your doctor about getting off if it. It may mean that you have some nights without so much sleep, but it's part of the process.
Day 3-----good job. I think your worst symptoms are over in 3-5 and you feel almost human between 7-10. It's a small price to pay to get your life back. Keep posting and tell us how you're doing.
does your doctor fully know the extent of ur drinking?Ativan is the worst thing that can be prescribed to one with a drinking problem..it is habit forming and one has to be gradually withdrawn from this...not to be taken longer than 6 months!
