Seizure due to drinking

My husband is 30 and yesterday had a severe seizure. His body tensed up, and his eyes rolled in the back of his head and then he started compulsiving and spitting up. I believe this was a seizure. After wards he became very combative and was very confused. He doesn't remember the seizure at all. The doctor said that it was due to substances abuse. (Alcohol and marijuana)

Then today he began to have excessive spit  and his jaw tensed up, as long with his left leg they said this was muscle spasms. They didn't give a cause but gave us meds to give him. He has had a car scan and bloodwork done.

My husband did binge drink over the weekend and he was smoking marijuana all week. But could this really be the cause of his seizure and muscle spasms? Also, is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening again?

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry that your guy had a seizure plus , right? You must be beside yourself with the stress of it all. Please send me a message if you feel like talking. I'm praying for you both to rise above this new challenge. I guess maybe you take a camera video of your husband with these things starting to happen with his alcoholism, for him to be able to see the reality of  his abusing alcohol. I wish I had of had a way to see myself, when I was abusing alcohol. I think it would have really helped me. (course i'd probably be having  nightmares of my own having seen myself on video). Substance abuse of any sort can cause all sorts of negative effects, even death.  You husband should not drink or smoke weed anymore.  If he can't stop right now (before something worse happens), he should go to inpatient treatment to recover.  Blessings - Blu
