Hi,
I am sorry that you find yourself in this situation, as others have said this is serous for your brother. The vomiting for what ever reason combined with drink will cause dehydration and needs to be treated ASAP.
In an ideal world he should be in hospital for detox as well as the vomiting and then maybe move on for treatment in an addiction treatment centre or rehab whilst also finding AA. That is how I would approach this however you will most likely meet resistance all the way from your brother if he dose not want to stop drinking.
Alcoholism convinced me that I was ok even though I was in the depths of despair. I firmly believed that even though I was in hospital and had liver and other medical problems along with mental health issues such as depression, paranoia, fear, anger and emotional turmoil that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. These are the kind of issues you must deal with when trying to help your brother. I would suggest going to alanon and work from there as this can drag you down as well.

I say as Fantasma: I threw up and threw up and threw up while still drinking. Particularly the times when I either didn't have any more drink waking up or when I actually stopped drinking. it's a part of the withdrawal symptoms and need to be dealt with at a hospital. It's very dangerous. Kindly/ Pia
Before I quit drinking I was throwing up every day/many times. I couldn't get food down until after alcohol, which I often puked up right after I drank it. I know I was in trouble.
thank you so much... i will do what I can... which is very little... but whatever I can do - I will...
I was really afraid of that... but I did know something was tragically wrong with this picture... in so many ways...
what a nightmare...
hello. your brother could have done some serious damage to his gastrointestinal tract with complications that could be life threatening such as esophageal varices which if rupture could precipitate death via blood loss. he needs to be seen by a competent physician, and he needs to be honest about his drinking. i can tell you from my own experiences, this is no joke. this is potentially life threatening. best wishes, gm
