friend in need

I have an alcoholic friend.  She has gotten very thin and doesn't look well.  She has agreed to go see my doctor but WILL NOT admit to her drinking problem.  If the doctor does a full physical, will blood tests bring out evidence of alcohol abuse?

oh no she can lie about the amount she drinks....and it takes quiet a bit of drinking for quite some time to show eleveated liver enzymes....it is up to her and her alone to let all out in the open!

So, if I can successfully get her in to doctor and the blood tests are done... there is NO WAY she can say that she is just an occational drinker... all will be out in the open?

LFT or liver function test are routine tests done that will show if there is an issue with the liver. As ibizan said it is about how honest your friend is with people but more importantly how honest she is with herself, denial is a powerful thing and practicing addicts can convince themselves that things are ok when they are not…

sure will!liver enzymes will tell the truth!but it is amazing how sturdy the liver is...i know very heavy drinkers who tell me liver profile was normal...but they could be fibbing!
