I quit cold turkey also. I did go to a recovery program and that helped with AA 12 step program, changing my beliefs and bad thinking. I quit drinking and have never felt better. Feel like a free person now, never wake up groggy and feeling tired. Can drive anywhere anytime and really enjoy eating at regular times now. I myself didn't have much problem except slept lots for a few days and then starting eating healthy food, meals at regular hours and kept busy and tried to stay away from stressful situations, still do. Get so much accomplished now, and life is so much better with a clear mind everyday. Don't be afraid to quit, you can do it too. It's worth it.
My personal opinion is yes. That was the only way for me to get clean and sober and to quit smoking as well. It ain't easy, believe me. But if you remind yourself that you won't be feeling so damn crappy forever, that it will get better, that this too shall pass, taking it 1 minute at a time if necessary, will help you achieve the greatest gift you could ever give to yourself. I encourage you to take the plunge, you so deserve it.
