vomiting

I am not a alcoholic, I do drink on some weekends, I have noticed that I stop breathing and wake up coughing then that usaully leads into throwing up, this only happens when I drink liquor the stuff i throw up is black in colour, not like coffee beans any ideas what could be going on with me I am 42 yrs old thanx

Hi John, it has.been almost three years since you posted that you were throwing up something black. I hope you went to the MD; got some labs taken, and possibly even had an EGD done (esophagogastroduodenoscapy)-where they look down your throat with a little camera after numbing it to see if you did have ulcers...I was just really curious to find out what it was and if you got better.

I would get to the doctor and discuss this with him.  In the mean time i wouldnt be doing any drinking.       sara

Sounds like blood from an ulcer, but there is no way to tell on an internet forum.  See a doctor.  Whether you're an alcoholic or not, drinking to excess becomes more dangerous as we get older.  You're not old, but you're not a kid anymore either.  Can you drink in smaller quantities and stick with beer & wine? If you're drinking to the stage of blackouts or passing out, then you may have more of a problem than you believe.

It would be impossible to diagnose that over the internet. I have to suggest that you visit your doctor and explain the situation. He/she may do some tests and can further diagnose what is going on.
