Hello and welcome back. I'm glad to hear you are ready to try again. We all wish we could be like those people that just have one or two and stop but that is what makes us alcoholics, we can't.
Drinking is a viscous cycle, in the beginning we drink to have fun then after a while it becomes a necessity.. we drink just to feel normal.
After drinking to such extremes and a diagnosis of cirrhosis I have now been sober for three years. I guess you could say cirrhosis gave me the motivation I needed after living that life for more than 20 years. Though managing my health is complicated leading a sober life has been the best three years of my life. I'm full of energy and very motivated. My thoughts are clear and my confidence is high.
Life is what You make it.. Make this happen for yourself, you deserve it and so does your love ones. This community is a great place to start, many people hear have great success stories and what better way to learn than by people that have already been where your at. Many people need more help though and as Gaui suggested AA is also a great place to find support. Other seek help from a detox facility.
Another suggestion to carefully choose the people you allow to be in your life, choose only the people that want to see you succeed, people you look up to and don't want to let down. Most importantly do it for yourself and your health, be smarter than I was. Did you know most people with cirrhosis are not diagnosed until they have reached the end stage. This is because symptoms of cirrhosis don't normally manifest until the final stage.
I wish you the very best, take care!
Randy
There is only one way I know how to live sober and that's by taking the AA 12 step program. I am on my 25th year of sobriety now and AA does work.
