You asked about my other symptoms, here they are:
1. Short of breath, have to open windows at night to allow fresh air
2. Hot patches/flushes anywhere in the body (only for a few seconds)
3. I feel generally very tired
4. Sometimes my hands go very cold, chill feeling overall
5. Shaking, tremblings
6. Tinglings on the scalp and other parts of the body, generally hands and back
And when I had the attack last Sep, I had lost "sense of time" completely, I was in a different world completed for almost 8 hours. I could hear, speak, answer questions, recognise everyone, but everything was as if it was played back to me in a movie (not real-time), it is a terrible feeling!
Saw the GP again yesterday, same thing: Anxiety related.
@alex74alex : Yes, I find beta blocker very unconfortable, but it does it's job I guess in terms of controlling the pluse.
Not sure what to do with this, how to proceed, is this Anxiety disorder or something else?...
@blsdnsvd: Yes, TFT (blood) was done at the A&E, came out negative, then did the 24 hours (24 X 3 days) urine test , also negative, so possibly Thyroid is not in the equation.
Had a very bad day yesterday, pulse constantly over 100 for the whole day, finally got frustrated and took the beta blocker, pulse came down to 78 in 20 minutes, felt better, but now experiencing the side effects (foggy mind, a little bit of shaking, very subtle.
Seeing the doctor again this morning...
(PS: Tychacardia pulse at the A&E was 130 plus, @ 136)
been there, done that.
i was also prescribed a beta blocker and now i'm struggling to wean myself off it (lots of nasty side effects)
if i were you i'd ask the doctor about other ways to lower your pulse - the vagal maneuver, the valsalva maneuver (look them up online) or what my cardio Dr recommended to me: breathe deeply exhale slower than you inhale, close your eyes and gently press on your eyeballs. Your pulse should return to normal within seconds/minutes. Please check with your doctor though before trying any of these. I've had a lot of tests ($$$) blood work, ecg's, chest x-rays 24 h Holger, 2 week loop monitor, echocardiogram, stress test just to confirm the initial diagnosis: anxiety.
i hope this helps.
good luck
Anxiety can definately cause Tachycardia, however there are other illnesses that will too. Have you ever had your thyroid checked??? Is this your only symptom. I suggest that you google "hyperthyroism checklist" and see if any symptoms that you experience are there. If all else is ruled out, it can possibly be an Anxiety disorder and you can also do a checklist for that condition as well. Self education is the key. Hope this helps
