I haven't been avoiding because of my anxiety. More because of autonomic dysfunction and aspergers. I don't know if I expect anxiety now. That's a good point. I have anxiety at night sometimes, and that doesn't make any sense to me. Usually I can calm myself down, but sometimes it's harder.
I'm not sure it really matters, at least if one believes current psychological thinking. The problem with anxiety or panic isn't the anxiety or panic itself, it's the mind becoming conditioned to it and expecting it, thereby spreading it to other experiences and then avoiding things because of that expectation. It's the avoidance, in other words, that is the disease, not the feeling of anxiety. Everyone experiences anxiety sometimes. I've never met anyone without at least one phobia. But they don't spread those fears to other things. So once you've conditioned your mind to expect anxiety, does it matter where the origination of the first experience came from? Treatment is still necessary and the problem still there. So even if you treat the underlying medical condition, you very well might, and probably will, still need to treat the expectation of more anxiety.
By the way, I take Prozac. I might ask about Klonopin at my next appointment. Does anyone else have an illness that causes anxiety symptoms and panic? Is this uncommon? Am I alone?
Is there anyone else like me here?
I don't have depression. I do have autonomic dysfunction which causes some of my anxiety and panic. I don't think all though. Even when there are physical causes for anxiety, there can be a mental part too?
I do know that anxiety dissorder can be a direct bi-product of Major depression.
Funny thing is that I know plenty of people with anxiety dissorder that do not suffer from depression, but almost everyone that suffers from Major depression also suffers from anxiety dissorder.
It seems that for depressed people, the anxiety is a direct by-product of the Depression.
My anxiety and panic were caused by autonomic dysfunction at first, but I think it's more than that now.
Ah, that's the big question, isn't it? Nobody knows.
Some medical conditions can cause anxiety like symptoms. Anxiety on its own is much more common in my opinion, but there is usually a cause to why you think the way you do and it is important to figure it out in my opinion. Constant worry about a medical condition (real or imagined) can also cause a lot of stress in my experience. Have you had a lot of anxiety issues in the past? Are you currently going through something that makes you anxious?
