I have been on Paxil (not CR) for 12 years and have never felt even a hint of nausea and I have a very sensitive system. It has been best for me take it at night as it helps me sleep. It has provided me with such relief from anxiety and panic that my life has become so much better - hugely better. I am so grateful for this medication and will never stop taking my 30mg a day (best to work up to 20mg, if that is not making a significant difference, then increase to 30mg).
Really glad to hear you're going to see a different doc............yours sounds like a "treat 'em and street 'em" sort of guy. Hopefully the therapist you saw, and really liked, will be savvy enough to give you some helpful insights into different meds some of her other patients have been on. She won't be able to prescribe for you, but she will be able (and willing) to talk to you about how the meds work and the side effects.
I hope the doc you are calling today is one that has been recommended to you and not just picked at random out of the phone book. Which even if he/she WAS recommended is no guarantee you're going to like them! (But your odds do go up a bit!)
It amazed me when you said this doc didn't know about emetephobia. I work in a hospital and there are lots of folks with this "problem" and the docs are really good about giving meds to ward off nausea in these patients.
Good luck with your new doc, PLEASE write back and let me know how it went! And here's that tough part of me.............don't walk out of that office until each and every single question you have has been answered to your liking! It's your right and the doctors sworn duty, so don't let them bush you off! You deserve the best.
Peace

Yeah, talking with my husband tonight, I'm calling another one tomorrow. This one I've been trying to deal with... he's never in his office and they NEVER answer back when I leave messages. I called the office one am during one of my worst panic attacks and of course the doc wasn't there and the secretary just said, "well, what do you want me to do??" I couldn't believe it. So, I made a trip to my regular doc for some help.
you're right.... I need a doc who will listen and talk with me about certain drugs and such. I'm far from being a "what about Bob" LOL --- but I'm new to all this and need a doc who will talk with me.
I didn't know that you HAD spoken to your doctor about your fears of the medication or your emetephobia since you DIDN'T tell us you had.
I CAN be rather "tough" at times, but this wasn't one of them. I think it's the problem with cyberspace..........we can't actually "hear" how the other person is saying what they are, the inflection is not there.
NOW that I know you DID speak up about both issues and have, apparently, not been given any options, and certainly no advice or information, I would seek out another doctor who is far more willing to listen to you.

WOW - kind of tough aren't you? I HAVE TOLD my doc about my fear and the problem is, most have NO idea about emetophobia! So, sorry I brought it up in the first place.
So forget about my whole post and let me ask this.... who has been on Paxil and how did it do for you? Did it really help with anxiety and panic attacks - what about side effects?
I just have one thought Toots. Why tell US about your fear of the side effects of the Paxil and NOT your prescribing doc? He is the ONLY one who can change you to something that either won't make you ralph or give you something to take with the Paxil to help with the nausea.
I say get on the phone with him as soon as possible and let him know about this. The longer you put it off is another day you have to feel this way..............
Let us know how you're doing, OK?
Peace
