I have found that talking yourself out of it as Daisy mentioned works well. Also deep breathing.
I also agree with cj on talking with a therapist.
Good Luck
Throughout all of this, have you sought the help/advice of a therapist? I am a big proponent of SSRIs, but sometimes it can be a little trial and error to find the right one for you. But remember, there is no magic pill that will cure you of this...you also need to gain the long term knowledge of why you are thinking the way you are. It can be REALLY hard to get out of this cycle but it can be done! Keep us posted!
Ive tried wellbutrin, lexapro, zoloft and buspar and didnt have any luck with those but i have heard alot of people say prozac has worked for them. Maybe i should give that a try! Thank you so much for your advise, its nice to know that im not alone, some times it really feels that way.
I hear what your sayin'. I have had OCD/Depression/ and General Anxiety Disorder for about 23 years. I have only had to sever break downs in that time, the last one just last year at this time. I am only know finally recovering. You mentioned you take Xanax, that can help but you need something to help with the sypmtoms 24/7. I take Zoloft right now and am being weined off of Prozac. Prozac worked for me for years. But now i find I need something different and this Zoloft is working GREAT. I also take 2 15mg of Buspar 2 x a day. I use Lorazapam right now also which helps. One things I started faitfully a year ago was doing guided meditation every day! Gael Chirella has some great ones out there. At first i couldn't even relax with them at all, but I just kept up with. Keep in minds at this point I could no longer work, was going to work with my husband because I could not be alone, and was crying and scared to death of everything all the time. Now, things are wonderful. The medicine is doing it's job, I continued to learn to relax with these CD's and have since gotten many more and use them all the time. I have worked with my doctor to find out the right medications, sometimes it takes a while because people always respond differently to medications, but they are out there at they WILL help you. Go to a doctor you trust explain your symptoms and ask about SSRI (seratonin uptake inhibitor). Alot of times anxiety disorders (GAD/OCD) go hand in hand with depression and these med's work great for that.
I KNOW WHAT YOUR FEEL LIKE. Please go to the doctor and get some help, get some CD's, exercise too it helps so much. And give it time your anxiety will keep you thinking that nothing is working fast enough but change the thoughts in your head even if you don't believe them right now to things like, "This is only anxiety, it will pass, and it can't hurt me" "I'm getting better each day it just takes time thats all". Thinks all positive statements to yourself cuz if your like most of us with this your head is filled with negative, scary, meaningless, stuff that doesn't even make sense.
Hang in there, there are many out hear praying and routing for you!
