Thank's Nursegirl! I Have Heard From Several People That Lexapro Can Increase Anxiety When You First Start Taking It And i Feel It Does For Me. I Have Had 2 Days In The Last 2 Weeks Where I Felt Good Only to Have It Go back To Very Bad The Next Day. I Believe You Are Remembering My Posts On Ativan That I Quit Cold Turkey Due To Being Uninformed. Dr.Wants To Up The Lex To 10mg To Bring Some Relief Instead Of Just Side Effects.I Do Have Concerns About Meds That Are Possibly Addicting That Require Weaning Off.
You mean the side effects of the Lexapro, or related to coming OFF the Lexapro?
I agree with Paxiled, you were on SUCH a low dose for such a short period of time, that I doubt you should have any trouble coming off the Lexapro at all. I suspect most docs would tell you it's okay to just stop taking it.
To be honest with you, I think that a good deal of your issue may be psychosomatic. You've mentioned several times of being significantly fearful of trying medications, and you're not alone in that. It's very difficult to endure a medication when you're so anxious about it. I truly wish for you that you could find a way to stick it out for at least a month or so, so you could see for yourself that indeed you would start to feel better, and any side effects would have abated. Of course there are exceptions, and some people just cannot tolerate certain medications, like SSRIs, however, my suspicion is that for YOU, it's more of a cognitive hang up.
You're still in therapy, right? Have you discussed this all with your therapist? What has he/she recommended?
What I assume are the side effects have been unbearable
It's because you were on it too short at time for it to even start working, so quitting shouldn't be much of a concern.
