Chronic Head Tension

I have been having chronic head and neck tension on and off for a couple of years. However, a year ago, I started experiencing head tremors and the head and neck stiffness has gotten much worse. I was told by my cardiologist a couple of years ago that I have slight mitral valve prolapse. Does this affect my current situation and should I visit a neurologist or psychiatrist?

I have this dull, aching numbness that radiates from the left side of my head right up to my fingers. When I stand for more than five minutes, the balls of my heels feels sore and I start feeling very tired and cannot stand for long. My tremors is visible when I stand or sit without moving much. However, once I start walking, it kind of stops temporarily. I am quite embarrassed by this whole thing.

I did see a private neurologist when this whole thing started and the neurologist mentioned that it could be a lack of exercise. My CT scan showed up normal but I did not continue seeing the neurologist. Please advise. Thank you.

To: JS Geare,

Sorry for delay in reply. I visited one GP recently and was told that it could be cervical spondylosis(she mentioned there is no cure for this). However, she did advise that I should visit the cardiologist as well because I did an ECG test at her clinic and it indicated high ventrical voltage( is it correct?).

Actually, I do not know of any good GPs and wondered if I could go through the public health system whereby we visit the nearest polyclinic and get a referral to see either the neurologist or cardiologist etc.

The only snag is the waiting time. Gotta wait for at least one to two months before I can see the specialis and another month to do a test. What would you advise?

Thanks and await your reply.

Hi! Thanks for the valuable advice.

I plan to see my GP sometime next week. I hope to resolve my problem as soon as possible because it is  already starting to affect my ability to work well.

Probably do a comprehensive check-up. Will revert. Cheers!

Grateful thanks!

Thanks for the post. Appears to me that you've experienced some progression since that last visit with the neuro, so maybe another go-around, with a really thorough work up would be in order. I hope you also have a GP who can be a good middle manager to get you good referrals and sort of manage the process. The symptoms could be a lot of different things and sure, it mught be all about anxiety.

But, as you probably have guessed, there will be and should be a lot of testing to rule out other possibilities. Maybe the time has come for a total check out simply to sort of set your health maintenance program for the years ahead of you anyway. Chat with that GP -and let us know how it goes.

We'll be waiting for you, right here. Hurry back!
