I have tried herbal remedies, OTC medications,
And am calling this week to be referred to a sleep Dr.
I have been so sleep deprived, it's awful.. That's when I seeked the care of my dr. For help. I don't have insurance and expect the sleep dr. To be expensive.. But gonna give it a shot.. This severely affects my daily life..
These are pretty heavy drugs. Perhaps it's time to try the gentler route. Have you tried natural remedies such as melatonin? Perhaps your body clock is messed up. Or Calm's Forte, a homeopathic remedy. Or valerian or California poppy, herbal remedies. Do you exercise so your body is tired out? Have you had a sleep study? You see where I'm going here -- you're trying to medicate this away instead of trying to discover the underlying reason, and it's not working, so it might be time to try something else other than drugs many of which aren't even intended as sleep remedies.
I'm currently unemployed, bedroom is dark and only used for sleep.
I have no caffeine during times before sleep.. I eat pretty healthy no sweets, only on occasions, and not at night.. Alcohol use is very minimal and not daily or weekly..
I do have a tendency to have racy thoughts and some anxiety problems.
When I go to bed I am ready for sleep, feel like I can sleep, but can't get there..
The risperdal with restoril worked for a few months and then stopped suddenly..
Well we know what meds don't work, what about you life style?
Do you have "regular" hours, need to be awake during daylight time? Do you have a quiet room that is dark and comfortable when you try to sleep? What are you dietary practices, especially with regard to caffiene and alcohol?
