I often find when trying to quit habits or change my behavior that the habits I used to deal with the problems now need double the attention without the habits....Sounds confusing, but if you have been using smoking to calm yourself down during anxiety, now without smoking what are you using to deal with anxiety....If you have replaced smoking with eating, that is very normal but also not a healthy habit.....

I think a visit to your health care professional is in order, if for no other reason, but to check if your symptoms are indicative of bigger problems like diabetes, your thyroid or an early episode of heart disease...

Good luck to you

Hi there and welcome to the forum.  Yes, I would say that your dizziness could be caused by not smoking.  Your body is used to the nicotine and now is 'adjusting' to being without.  Similar to getting a headache when one stops caffeine.

If it worsens or continues, please see your doctor!

Awesome that you've taken the step to stop smoking!  Good for you.  wishing you much luck!

If these symptoms DO correspond to when you quit smoking, and if you quit "cold turkey,"  it's very likely that you're experiencing nictotine withdrawawl. Nicotine is known to be one of THE most addictive substances in the world, and just stopping cold can be very nasty.

You could try using a nicotine replacement patch and see if that helps ease the symptoms, but I'd still recommend seeing your doctor to rule out an organic problem.

You said you were over weight and quitting smoking is notorious for packing on the pounds, your doctor can also give you a lot of good information/handouts on how to cope during the withdrawal, from not overeating to coping with all the symptoms. The more you know about what to expect from a quit, the more prepared you'll be to deal with it when it hits you.

Quitting is hard. STAYING "quit" is even harder. But if YOU want it, YOU will make it happen.

Just keep telling yourself "smoking is NOT an option!"
Congratualtions and I wish you success!
Peace
