Do I have hypochondria?

I've gone through a period in time in which my health was always a serious concern to me. I constantly took everything even mildly out of the ordinary as a symptom to some rare disease. I panicked a lot & couldn't sleep at night. I haven't felt like that in a while now, only at certain times & worry it's going to come back. Is it hypochondria? I'm not sure if the actual disorder just comes & goes like that.

I think hypochondria is where someone insist they have some illness even if test(s) proves otherwise. For example my dad thinks he has high blood sugar or low. He got his blood sugar tested for a few days and his blood sugar was within normal range every time, but he still insisted that he has diabetes.
I have health anxiety which is not quite the same. With me I have a symptom and wonder what is wrong with me, and can have anxiety about it until I get a diagnosis. I also get anxiety when I have a chronic illness. When it gets better I have anxiety it will come back again.

Hi there....I'm glad that at the moment you are feeling good.  Usually if people are predisposed to something like this type of anxiety or say have been diagnosed with OCD, stress can cause symptoms to come back.   Now don't get upset becuase this DOES NOT mean that this will happen to you however the key is to learn how to deal with the symptoms just in case.  You obviously have gotten over it and that is something that you can always fall back on....those past positive experiences are key to helping you through any future ones. Also, it helps to have cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in your arsenal against this type of thinking.  Controlled breathing, meditation, positive self-coaching, etc go a long way to helping you feel better.  And just remember, we can talk ourselves into things but we can also talk ourselves out of them....I self-coach myself all the time and it really does help.  Take care.

It could be some anxiety going on or something but I dont know for sure or anything. I think that you should find a theropist and talk about it if its something you are concerned with. They will probably be able to tell you whats going on and how to help you deal with it. I hope that things get better for you as well.

It sounds like anxiety. Everyone has anxiety. And anxiety will make you think things are worse then they are. If your really concerned about it you can always talk to a therapist or a psychologist.
Good luck, I hope things get better for you.

It could be hypochondria. The only way to know for sure is through a Dr or Psychiatrist.
