if youcould start from beginning again

hi there. only been having anxiety for about 6mos. tried lexipro and made me have tremors. tried zoloft and that seemed pretty good until I passed out at work and dr. at hospital took me off. psychiatrist gave me script for xanxax to only take when panic hit me. I do pretty well as long as I stay within an hour of home. so... my question is, after reading everyones posts (sounds like meds are bad?) , those of you who have been there done that what would recommend for someone starting out on this path and at date has no meds on board? And I'm probably going to be stepping on toes but... has anyone tried prayer? this is usually my first go to but when panic hits its hard to concentrate on Bible verses or anything for that matter?

I would echo all the above I have also found that visualisation and positive thinking helps, if I feel anxious I allow a  few mins of worrying, then say thats it, thats enough and focus on positive aspects of my day, I have learned that for me it is my thoughts especially if I obsess that make me feel bad , turning them off isnt easy but you can do it ,it becomes a habit . I also say to myself " Can I change it will worrying about it make any differance"I also dont fight it too much I let it wash over me, the anxiety leaves quicker, give it 5 mins then let go. Visualise yourself doing something nice, exciting and Happy , and smile even if you feel horrible really just Grin, ists catching and you may really feel better .

I have stepped in the right direction overcoming health anxiety.  I have found several things that help me. I do not take meds, but have using the following ideas to ease my anxiety.  First of all, anxiety is a choice... you either subscribe to it and live your life chasing your fears or live courageously in the moment.  One way of letting go is to connect with the world around you rather than disconnect and always being focused on your thoughts.  I have found that if kept busy I don't have irrational thoughts.  Reading books has been a huge help to me.  Anytime I begin to have an irrational thought I throw up a STOP sign in my head and start focusing on positive things.  With continuous practice of throwing up that STOP sign and thinking positively, it becomes a natural routine and eases anxiety.  I hope this makes sense and helps.  Remember....enjoy life don't subscribe to anxiety.
