Is this Normal? Ever-Changing Klonopin Withdrawal Symptoms

About a month ago, I had a panic attack from taking some diet pills, which are bad  I know, I do not take them anymore. I started hyperventilating so bad that my hands clinched up, I could not breathe at all. My husband rushed me to the ER, they gave me Klonopin to take.

I took 1 mg 2x a day, which did not help, made me feel like a zombie, etc. So I tapered off of them in about a week.

Now (a month later) I am still having HORRENDOUS withdrawal symptoms which seem to be ever-evolving - some days are bearable, some are terrible, even after a month. They change from day to day, the latest for the last few days has been a tingling/numbness on parts of my head and it feels like my brain is not working correctly. Some days are much different than others. The symptoms change day to day... Panic has mostly went away.

So my question is are these changing/evolving symptoms signs that my body is healing or did I do permanent damage by tapering down in a week? I am in a living hell right now.

Thank you for any information that you can offer.

Kim

When you say Clorezepam I think you mean clonazepam, which is generic Klonopin, am I right?  And you say you tapered off for a week but don't clearly indicate how long you were on this med, because if it was just for a week it would be strange to get such a strong withdrawal, though with drugs anything is possible I suppose.  Are you sure this is withdrawal?

Hi there, so sorry you're having a rough time.

Was there anything else in the mix?  Any other medications?  How long did you take the diet pills, and what were you taking?

Can you also describe your benzo taper? And what exactly you were taking before the Klonopin (and how you were taking it?)

Sorry for all of the questions, but it is a bit perplexing that you would have such severe w/d symptoms from a relatively short course of benzos, with a taper.  What is your doctor saying?  Were most of your symptoms anxiety like in nature?

What is your doc recommending to deal with the symptoms?

I should mention that before I was taking Klonopin for about a week I tried a couple of other Benzos that my doctor prescribed (Xanax and Clorezepram) they did not work so they put me back on Klonopin, just thought this would be helpful. I was on Benzos for about a month total.
