GAD

Is there anyone out there suffering with GAD and if so do you always seem to feel unusually tired and cannot concentrate well?

I found that inline skating or treadmill running where I can work up a good sweat helps. Other things like keeping the house clean, and having plants and flowers in the house all add to help my GAD. Hot showers, talking to buds on the phone and chamolile tea and the supplement GABA all have helped. I have been on Klonopin which .5mg and will start to taper in a few days, so we shall see.
Just remember you are not alone in this forum....Every time you get anxious, just give a little smile and remember just down the street from you some other GAD person is going through their stuff

Also, keeping a journal ( I do it about every other day) and reading novels or non-fiction gets my mind off myself, as most of us with GAD are overly self absorbed.

Peace,

Hi Rad!!!

Well to be totally honest with you, I have not tried any medication at all over the years and I am still here in one piece. The only things that I really went for would have been the likes of Bach Remedies, which is a herbal solution in a bottle dropper effect, and it has also some brandy instilled in it. Some chamomile tea, which is of course a natural herb, used to and still do pop some into a teaball and let it stew for a few minutes and drink, it is very calming and relaxes your mind. But yeah, honestly Rad, between the above mentioned I do not and have not taken anything else, and I have been suffering on and off over the years with anxiety and panic.

I also find a nice long brisk walk, or some meditation, or some yoga, but everyone to their own. Also going to see a counsellor played a big role for me, and the benefits are amazing, as they do tend to get to the root of the anxiety, which in turn you will be therefore able to recognise and later control.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you, and take care.

Hi Robbie,

OF COURSE, as these are the symptoms that coincide with GAD. It is like a vicious cycle really because your fear drives you to feeling paniced and once you are in that awful panic mode, the onset of fear is back again, and it is horrible but it CAN be broken and it can indeed be treated with or without medication, I personally chose no medication but everyone to their own.

In the end I chose mind over matter after a long struggle with anxiety and panic over the years, and am happy to report that now I tend to mostly have it under control, with the help of my diet, excercise, meditation, holistic approaches, yoga, and generally telling myself that my willpower can do this, and you can also get through this too, I am sure of it.
