Getting the help I need

Hi all,
For several years now I have dealt with anxiety. Mostly related to my health and obsessive thoughts. I can't seem to kick the habit on my own so I decided to get help but due to the fact that I do not have good health Insurance and I'm not eligible for low cost insurance I'm not able to get the help I need. These fears and thoughts are beginning to take over my life. I'm in a constant state of anxiety. I'm only 26 years old and I live like a 96 year old because of this. If anyone has advice I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you in advance.

Thanks again I will definitely look into the group support idea. Yeah it's probably approaching that point for me... I'm just constantly worried all the time and focused on my obsessions. It's very scary how the mind can play tricks on you.

Hmm, I am not sure if there is but you can always look for a therapist who charges on a sliding scale basis? I would call around also to clinics etc. They may have information on therapist who offer a lower cost approach. Also, group support therapy is often times free or on a donation basis and is offered at some public libraries.

I was in such a bad place with my panic attacks, I will willing to take anything to make me feel better. It was such hell and so horrible so that you are able to jump on it now before it gets to that point is wonderful.

Good luck to you! :)

Thank you for the response. I've been prescribed Zoloft in the past but was too afraid to take it cause of side effects. So I really would like to talk about my problems and get to the root of my anxiety. It seems so hard to get help and I don't know how to go about it. I was wondering if there is some kind of way to get low cost therapy.

I have taken zoloft for 14 years due to my anxiety and panic. It has helped with my health anxiety and OCD very much so. It comes in a generic form which can def help with costs. Do you have a primary care doc that you can talk to about possible medication treatments?  It truly can help until you can get in to see a therapist or psychiatrist :)
