Lexapro for panic

Can anyone tell me any positives about Lexapro in treating panic disorder? I have just started this medication at 10mg and can kind of tell a difference, but not 100%. Any advice would be greatly received.

Thank you for your input. I'm on day 2 of it. The first day, I felt fairly able to function. Today, I've had some unsteady, swimmy headed feelings. I've also felt like my sugar was out of whack but not sure if this is a side effect. I agree that I probably could use counseling. Thanks again.

Lexapro didn't work well with me but my dad loves it. And I agree with cj...without counseling medications are just a bandaid so def stick with therapy while on medication so you can get over your anxiety and panic.

SSRIs like Lexapro take a while to feel the full therapeutic effects of the medication.  My doctor advised me that it could take a month and in my experience it took me about 3-4 weeks to really get the full benefit of it.  I am a proponent of medications like Lexapro, but remember they do not cure you of your panic.  In my experience, it can be a great tool to use while you learn about and confront the sources of your anxiety through counseling...keep us posted!
