Hello; I am not an expert at this but I can tell you years ago when my Dad died, my Uncle who is a Pharmacist told my Mom not to cover up her grieving with meds. He says it is a necessary process to feel the grief. I am sure if it is out of control a short term thing might be ok, or some very good support if you are lucky enough to have it. It also depends on the type of death that happened you are grieving about. There are a lot of good support groups out there these days, so I wish you well and sorry to hear about your loss. It would be a good idea to let your Dr. know this as well.
