I made it to work this morning. I am so terrified now to drive, but I made the 20 mile journey.
To tell a little more....
I am supposed to get the accident report today and take it to my insurance company. I am not sure if they have considered the wreck my fault or the other driver's fault. If it is considered my fault, then I don't know what I will do.
Here's what happened....
I was at a stop sign at a divided highway waiting to get in the median so I could go northbound on this highway. I had my left blinker on. There was a car on the other side of the highway I guess waiting to do the same. My side finally cleared, so I crossed into the median. I looked back toward the northbound traffic and within 5 seconds it was clear enough for me to pull out. Not even looking back toward the other car because I assumed I had the right-of-way, I floored it and turned just long enough to see the other vehicle right there. I t-boned him. Neither one of us were hurt, but they took him off in an ambulance for precautionary reasons. They said he just had hip surgery and I would guess that he was in his mid-70s.
