Health anxiety

Hi. I have never posted a question on the internet before but it could really use the extra help right now. I am 32 years old, female. I started having twitching a few weeks ago and went to see the doctor and had a exam, he thought it was all stress and anxiety. Now I have been having a lot of throat clearing and I always feels like I have mucus in my throat. I have started unintentionally biting the side of my tongue when I am eating/talking and now and have noticed more just biting down on my tongue on the sides and the side of my mouth just feels weird.  I have been scared of ALS. I also have very little appetite. I do feel a burning feeling in my face/lips which I have heard can be anxiety. I have tightness in my face and throat. Does this sound like anxiety, especially with all the mouth/tongue symptoms? Thanks for any help or experience you have had!

Oh gosh, yes! I would have so much trouble swallowing to the point I'd begin gagging. I couldn't sleep because I was so scared that I wouldn't wake up. Yeah, that mucus thing happened to me too. If you ever need someone to talk to, message me! I'm always here! And by the way, if you'd like to know my whole story, it's in my profile... It's the first question I've ever asked on this website, not too long ago... I'm new at this too!

Sorry, I responded to your comment now and didn't hit the reply botton. I am new at this! Did you also have a feeling of swallowing wrong to the point it makes you cough? And did you also have the constant mucus in your throat? Thanks again!

Thank you! I agree, anxiety can cause some nasty things. I have also had the feeling of swallowing wrong, like spit doesn't go down right or something and I feel the need to clear it or cough, do you get this also? And the mucus feeling in your throat? I don't have a lot of people to talk to that have gone through similar things so it really helps! My mind convinced myself I have something wrong, like ALS and I have been miserable!

I had all these symptoms. It's just anxiety honey. When you do something that seems weird to you, or a bit abnormal such as... Biting your tongue or swallowing more often than usual, your mind immediately tells you something is wrong with your body. The anxiety causes you to think all these things are wrong when really, nothing is happening to you. Trust me, I know how it feels. I have health anxiety and panic attacks. Twitching, burning sensations, tight throat... Etc... All of these are symptoms of anxiety and thinking there is something wrong with you just adds on to it. I used to think I had AAA. It was terrible! I cried for three hours straight because I was convince I was gonna die. If you just try to distract yourself, or remind yourself that it's just anxiety. It will eventually get better.
