I've been on citalopram 20mg for about 4 months now. My dr. just upped it to 40mg. I have severe anxiety and depression. I have agorophobic tendencies. I'm also on welbutrin (generic 300 mg). My only side effects that are bothersome are random hiccups and hands and feet are always moving. My daughters said that this wasn't occuring prior to the citalopram being added. Now that they've pointed it out, it's kind of bothersome but liveable. I work full time as a legal secretary and I'm enrolled in online college for paralegal studies. I really feel my anxiety was keeping me from doing much of anything. I'm glad I'm on it. One thing one of my dr.'s suggested was to have family members provide feedback prior to my visits so I have a better idea of how it's really going.
I have never taken the med, but have taken Klonopin. I'm terrified of taking any med, even aspirin's.
But each individuals body chemistry is different and the only way to know, how you will react to a med is take it, some have great experiences, while others not so good, share the pro's and con's with your doctor. If this med does not work out for you, then you can try others, till you find the right medication to treat your symptoms.
But every medication carries side effects, I have taken medications and didn't feel any side effects at all, while other report they have on the same med.
So until you take the medication, and discover how it affects you, you will alway's get 50/50 reply.
