Help with lexapro

Hi everyone I'm new here I have been battling anxiety for 7 years with no sucess at the moment I was only taking amtriptyline which help a little bit but didnt erdicate the problem. I have tried loads of medication but most have failed due to harsh stomach side effects

Now I'm on my 3rd or 4th week taking lexapro and only 2.5mg along side 50mg of amtriplyine at night. Now I know how bad alchol is with anxiety but I like to have 1 or 2 with meals or socially at friends house. Now I tried to have 1 drink and I'm getting harsh stomach pains, bit dizzy and panicky and I'm never normally like this!

Should I leave the alchol out for a couple of more weeks? Could my body still not be adjusted?  Or will this now always happen when I drink?

You are on such a low dose of Lexapro.  Therapeutic dose is 10-20 mg.  perhaps when you get to that level you can drop the other.  Once you're at the therapeutic dose for 4 weeks or so you should be able to gauge if it's working for you.  I probably would just stay away from alcohol until then.  I know it's hard...I miss my beer!

Could it still be relatively new to my body then and a showing a sign of a start up effect? My doctor does want me to come off amtripyyline eventuley but I feel everytime I stop or reduce my stomach goes in overdrive like it did before I took it so I think it helps in it's own way if you get me.

alchol has been fine with me on amtripyline on its own do you think I should wait a little while say another few weeks see if anything changes? Think with amtripyline my start up symptoms were gone within 2 weeks

It's not a good idea to drink on a new med until you find out how it will affect you.  I was on Lexapro for a long time and never had issues with moderate alcohol consumption.  I now take Zoloft and feel dizzy and panicky with one beer, so no alcohol for me on Zoloft.  Perhaps the combo of drugs you're on doesn't mix well with alcohol.  Are you to stay on both drugs long term or will you wean off amtriptyline and just take Lexapro?
