Hi i took xanax with my son the whole entire pregnancy under my ob/gyn advise. U really have to out way the benefits of taking it to the benefits of not. I will say everyone has their own opinion on the answer to this but my anxiety was so bad i took it cuz i was so sick if i didnt take it,although i only took 1 and a half mg at the most n a day.Some drs n people r totally against it but i was a high risk pregnancy n my dr still recommended me to take it if i needed to do so. No it is not. Xanax can cause birth defects. I had a friend that when she was pregnant, her doctor told her to take benedrill to help her sleep. Idk how you feel about pot, but although there are some that would argue it too can cause birth defects, this isnt widely excepted and Im almost positive has never been proven. I have known several women that have smoked marijuana occasionally when pregnant to de-stress and they have had perfectly healthy children and I have also NEVER heard of a baby being born with birth defects due to marijuana. Of course there are other options as well, have you tried talking to somebody? If your PTS is because of a military experience, then the military should provide some kind of assistance in counseling. hope any of this helped!! good luck

Xanax is pregnancy category D, which means there is documented evidence of fetal malformations when taken during pregnancy.  I would talk to you heath care provider immediately if you are taking xanax and pregnant.  There are other medication options that are not so dangerous if you need to be taking something for the anxiety, so please call as soon as possible.
