Is Effexor and Lamictal causing me to have these symptoms?

I am 56 years old and have been taking 100 mg. Lamictal (dissolving) and 150 mg. Effexor ER  for 16 years. I have gained weight, about 30 lbs., I am unable to be anywhere that is too warm for me, I am hot all the time, and I now have a rapid pulse most of the time. I go into periods of my mind spinning and I cannot sit still and my pulse is around 123 to 125 when this is occurring.  Has anyone else experienced this and is it High Serotonin Syndrome?

No, this isn't serotonin syndrome.  That's much more severe and quite rare.  But meds that affect brain neurotransmitters often cause sweating and temperature changes and weight gain.  Effexor is a very stimulating antidepressant, and as such isn't usually used for primary anxiety, as it can cause anxiety and some of what you're experiencing.  On the other hand, since you've been on it for so long, I'm assuming these effects are new -- quite frankly, for weight gain, 30 pounds over 16 years is mild for antidepressants -- many gain a lot more in a year.  Such a mild weight gain by the year could be due to not exercising or dietary habits that will just get worse as you get older in their effects.  So if this is newer stuff and it never affected you like this before, it could just be your lifestyle catching up to you.  Another possibility is the drugs are starting not to work or not to agree with your older self at that dosage.  Lots of possibilities.
