Is it safe to take Tramadol and Lorazepam at the same time?

I took a 50mg tramadol 2 hrs ago for my gallstone pain. I've been prescribed 1mg lorazepam to help control sudden rises in blood pressure, and mine is starting to spike. Are the two medications safe to take together? I know the side effects of both drugs are drowsiness and sedation, and I plan on going to sleep for the evening soon anyway, but I'd just like to be safe rather than guess at this point. Thank you for your time.

They should be safe but if you are uncomfortabe in taking them together call and ask your doctor.

Three places to check -- the internet -- if you Google either drug there will be sites that describe the drug and the contraindications; call your pharmacist; best, call your doctor who prescribed them, if there's time to get in touch with him or her.
