Experience with Celexa

Has anyone taken Celexa?  If so can you please share your experience with it.  How many mg are you or did you take?  Did it help with anxiety?  How long was the adjustment period (did it increase your anxiety)?  Did you gain or loss weight?   Please share your experience with Celexa.

Thank you for your advice!

Hi.  I'm doing ok.  Thanks for asking.  Haven't started my celexa yet!  Hoping to read other experiences with this particular one first.  How are you doing with Zoloft?

Also, the "*****" wasn't a curse word.  Not sure why it got blocked.

Hey there!  I posted on your thread!  :)  I don't want to share my story then you not continue your med, because I know of a couple people who LOVE Zoloft!  I was on & off Zoloft for 10 years, so I could write a book on it LOL.  I couldn't stay off of it long, because my anxiety was worse off it than on it.  I did have some break through anxiety while on it... every now & then.  When I would start it up again I would get dizzy & not feel right while my body got used to it.  My biggest complaint with the medicine was it made me lethargic & not really care about much.  Now that I have been off of it for 3 yrs I realize that it wasn't the correct med for me.  I wrote on your thread that Xanax is known for rebound anxiety.  I started taking Xanax recently (as needed) & will say that the next day or two (without it) I have terrible anxiety - way worse than before I started Xanax!!!!  I am no longer a huge fan of it.  I did some google research to discover I am not alone on the rebound anxiety.  If you take it daily, then I am sure it isn't as bad.  My goal is to try out Celexa in hopes of ditching the Xanax completely.  It ***** that I have to take something since I have been med free for 3 years, but we have to do what we have to do when it comes to dealing with anxiety.  Please don't let my story stop you!  Zoloft does have some good to it - there are many people that love it - it just wasn't the one fore me.  Give it some time... it might be the med for you.  If not, you can try out another one until you find the right you for you!  Remeber, you have to give the med 6 weeks to fully kick in.  :)

Thank you for sharing your experience with Celexa.  I have a script.  I haven't started it yet.  I had a hard time with Zoloft & worried that I will have the same SE with Celexa.  I am happy this med works so well for you.  Hopefully it will do the same for me!  As long as I have energy with no weight gain I will be super happy.  And of course it helps with the anxiety.

*anyone else have an experience with Celexa they want to share please do.  Thanks!

Before I share...remember this is only MY experience.  Everone reacts differently.  I presently take 60 mgs of Celexa which is the max dose preferred.  I started at 20 mgs and then worked up to 40 mgs and so on.  It has been the best SSRI for my anxiety and I have tried many.  It is the only one that did not cause insomnia for me.  It does make me a little more drowsy at times.  But it passes.  I have gained about twenty pounds, but I have also been going through menopause, so I don't know where the blame lies.  Also when I was anxious I had days with constant nausea.  I ate very little and was jittery all the time.  I am more comfortable now and eating is more fun!  I don't really remember the Celexa making the anxiety worse.  I know it took about a month to feel improvement in my symptoms.  It is a good drug for me.  I hope it's the same for you.  Good luck!
