I'll skip the lecture about underage drinking, but I WILL ask why a young woman with emataphobia would drink "a lot of shots of a lot of different liquors........" I realize you're young and perhaps a bit naive about the facts of drinking, but I'm guessing you've probably heard some of your friends talk about throwing up after drinking too much. Makes sense to me to avoid doing something that you know, when done to excess, often results in throwing up.
Well, anyway...................I think your anxiety can be totally blamed on your hangover and how that has exacerbated your emaptaphobia.
Some hot soup and a good nights rest will fix what is bothering you physically, but you really need to start considering therapy to deal with all the psychological issues you're hauling around.
We're only young once, don't waste this wonderful time being afraid. Ask for some help.
Peace
Greenlydia
Thanks for your imput. I have been to some therapy, but it is very difficult to find someone who fully understands emetophobia, since it is very different from general anxiety. I do realize drinking is very stupid considering my phobia. I doubt I will drink like that again considering how awful I have felt the past couple days
I just messaged you but I just wanted to tell you again that i understand. I've been in therapy for my phobia off and on since I was 5 and regularly for the past year. Its not an easy fear to overcome and I've also had difficulty in finding therapists who are well versed with emetophobia and know how to handle it. But I think we'll both be ok in the end. And I really hope that you do decide to avoid drinking. I'm much happier now that I don't.
